Professional Analysis, Inc. (PAI) is seeking a HAZMAT Warehouse Technician to support warehouse operations for NAVSUP FLC Norfolk.

The HAZMAT Warehouse Specialist performs a variety of warehousing duties which require an understanding and compliance with all Naval Supply Procedures. Receives, handles, stores, and issues Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) in accordance with the prescribed procedures established by the Consolidated Hazardous Reporting and Information Management Program (CHRIMP). Operates various types of Materials Handling Equipment (MHE) to include forklifts, pallet jacks, and automated high rise stacker lifts in automated and non-automated HAZMAT warehouses.

Key Responsibilities and Additional Duties:

• Responsible for HAZMAT specific issues such as material compatibility, compliance with specific environmental regulations that relate to the handling of HAZMAT, and Department of Transportation and Safety Requirements.

• Responsibilities include understanding and compliance with all Naval Supply Procedures. Receives, handles, stores, and issues HAZMAT in accordance with the prescribed procedures established by CHRIMP. Operates various types of MHE to include forklifts, pallet jacks, and automated high rise stacker lifts in automated and non-automated HAZMAT warehouses.

• Will be required to operate a forklift for loading/unloading trucks, vans, etc. Will be required to sign and date material documentation as proof of receipt and provide copy to customer and retain copy for file. Use of a personal computer is required.

• Receives HAZMAT from customers and commercial carriers.

• Ensures that all transactions are properly documented. Prepares issue, receipt, and inventory documents and inputs data into the Government Designated Software (GDS). Conducts periodic location surveys in accordance with the provided database dumps. Correctly identifies inaccuracies on the above-mentioned database.

• Drives a pick-up truck having a gross vehicle weight of up to 10,000 pounds. Provides transportation for HAZMAT to selected customers of the assigned HAZMIN Center on an as requested basis. Makes local deliveries on base. May be required to make pick-ups from identified customers on an as needed basis.

• Required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Must be able to lift items in excess of 45 pounds.

• Working environment is in a warehouse that may be cold in winter and hot in summer.

• Must successfully complete the 40-hour HAZWHOPPER course and the annual 8 hour refresher course.

The hours of performance are Monday – Friday 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Oceana Naval Air Station.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Possess a minimum of four (4) years logistical experience, with at least two (2) years in a Navy or Marine Corps environment.

• Must pass a periodic physical examination as specified by NAVMED P-117 published by the BUMED and Surgery. Each MHE operator must possess a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate or proof of a current medical examination document on their license. This document must be carried on their person during working hours for inspection purposes.

• Required to have and maintain a current, valid state driver’s license.
